Guides/Exchange comparison

Best Crypto Exchanges for Arbitrage

There is no single best exchange for every arbitrage trade. The right venue depends on liquidity, fee tier, available pairs, settlement network, account limits, and whether you need spot, futures, or a fast transfer route.

In this guide

5 topics
  • 1Compare six major arbitrage venues
  • 2Understand reference spot and futures fees
  • 3Choose an exchange for spot, funding, or transfer routes
  • 4Validate deposit and withdrawal networks
  • 5Build a practical multi-exchange setup

1) Choose exchanges by the trade, not the brand

An exchange can be excellent for one strategy and unsuitable for another. Spot arbitrage needs transferable assets and real order-book depth; funding arbitrage needs liquid perpetuals, reliable margin, and enough capital on both legs.

  • •Use deep markets and consistent fills for larger notional
  • •Compare your actual fee tier, not only the public base rate
  • •Keep a second venue ready when one route is unavailable

2) Fees decide whether the spread is real

Trading fees are charged on both legs. Transfer routes also add withdrawal and network fees, so a low headline spread can be negative after execution.

  • •Model buy and sell taker fees before you enter
  • •For funding or futures spreads, include opening and closing fees on both venues
  • •Check selected-network withdrawal fees immediately before sending

3) Networks and wallet status are part of venue selection

For cross-exchange spot arbitrage, a liquid pair is only useful when the source withdrawal and destination deposit are both open for the same network.

  • •Check the exact asset plus network, not the ticker alone
  • •Avoid routes with unavailable, suspended, or unclear wallet status
  • •Use the Spot Scanner to screen route status, then confirm inside both exchanges

4) A practical starting setup

Rather than moving your whole balance every trade, maintain small working balances on two or three venues. This lets you execute both legs promptly and rebalance later using a verified route.

  • •Pair one deep spot venue with one broad-altcoin venue
  • •Use separate balances for spot transfers and futures margin
  • •Start with a small size until you know the real fill quality and settlement time

5) Do not rank wallet reliability from old anecdotes

Deposits and withdrawals can be paused because of chain maintenance, congestion, wallet upgrades, compliance checks, or exchange risk controls. A historical ranking is not a live signal.

  • •Treat status as real-time operational data, not an exchange reputation score
  • •Recheck the route after a sharp market move or network incident
  • •If one side is closed, choose another network, hedge, or skip the trade

Exchange selection checklist

  • •The exact pair has enough depth at your intended size
  • •Your real spot or futures fee tier is known
  • •Both legs are tradable and funded
  • •Withdrawal and deposit networks match for spot routes
  • •Limits, memo/tag, and confirmations are checked
  • •A backup venue or hedge plan exists

Frequently asked questions

What is the best exchange for crypto arbitrage?

The best venue depends on the specific pair and route. Compare live liquidity, your actual fees, available networks, wallet status, and transfer limits before choosing.

Which exchange has the lowest fees for arbitrage?

Base fee schedules vary by venue and can change by tier or promotion. Low trading fees are only one part of the calculation; include withdrawal, network, slippage, and closing fees too.

Can I rely on an exchange always keeping withdrawals open?

No. Wallet availability is operational and can change at any time. Check the live status for the exact asset and network before each transfer.
