Guides/Networks and fees

Crypto Withdrawal Networks and Fees Guide

A cheap or fast network only helps when it is supported and open on both exchanges. This guide shows how to compare networks, calculate the true transfer cost, and avoid sending funds into a paused or incompatible deposit route.

In this guide

5 topics
  • 1Match assets and networks correctly
  • 2Compare fees, speed, and confirmations
  • 3Understand why exchange wallets become unavailable
  • 4Use status filters before buying an asset
  • 5Send and monitor a safe transfer

1) The exact network must match

USDT, USDC, ETH, and many other assets can exist on several chains. A source withdrawal network and destination deposit network must be the same supported route for the transfer to be routine and safe.

  • •Match the selected network on both exchange screens
  • •Do not assume ERC-20, TRC-20, BEP-20, Arbitrum, Solana, or Base are interchangeable
  • •Copy the destination address and memo/tag after selecting the network

2) Calculate transfer cost as part of PnL

Withdrawal fees are fixed in asset terms on many exchanges, so they have a larger percentage impact at small trade sizes. Include them before you decide a spread is worth trading.

  • •Include buy fee, sell fee, withdrawal fee, and expected slippage
  • •Account for bridge fees when the source and destination need different networks
  • •Leave a volatility buffer for the time funds are in transit

3) Speed is more than blockchain block time

The blockchain may confirm quickly while an exchange holds a withdrawal for review or waits for more confirmations before crediting a deposit.

  • •Check the destination confirmation requirement
  • •Use a time-stop when a transfer is part of an unhedged trade
  • •Keep pre-funded balances for volatile or time-sensitive spreads

4) Why deposits and withdrawals become unavailable

Wallet status can change temporarily because of wallet maintenance, node upgrades, chain congestion, security controls, compliance review, or exchange-side risk limits. This does not create a reliable permanent ranking of exchanges.

  • •Do not send an asset when either side shows unavailable or suspended
  • •Recheck status immediately before authorizing a transfer
  • •If a route closes, choose an alternative network only after confirming both sides support it

5) Use a repeatable transfer workflow

A repeatable check is safer than relying on memory. Treat every new asset-network-exchange combination as a new route until it has been tested.

  • •Screen routes in the Spot Scanner
  • •Confirm the live deposit and withdrawal settings inside both exchanges
  • •Use a small test transfer for a new or recently changed route

Withdrawal network checklist

  • •The exact asset and network match on source and destination
  • •Source withdrawal and destination deposit are available
  • •Withdrawal fee and minimum deposit preserve a positive net result
  • •Memo/tag is included when required
  • •Account limits and confirmation time fit the trade
  • •Transaction hash and a time-stop are recorded

Network selection framework

These are decision factors, not a fixed recommendation. The best network is the one currently supported and open at both venues with acceptable cost and settlement time.

Decision factorWhat to checkWhy it matters
CompatibilitySame asset + same network on both CEXsPrevents wrong-network deposits
Withdrawal feeExact fee shown on source withdrawal screenCan erase a small arbitrage edge
Deposit minimumDestination minimum for selected asset/networkBelow-minimum deposits may not credit
ConfirmationsDestination confirmation requirementDetermines available balance timing
Wallet statusDeposit and withdrawal available nowClosed routes cannot settle
Memo / tagWhether the destination requires oneMissing data can delay crediting

Network support, fee schedules, and wallet status change frequently. Use the live exchange screens as the final source of truth before sending funds.

  • •Available indicates a route that can be investigated further
  • •Suspended means the route should be excluded until its status changes
  • •Always make a final check in the source withdrawal and destination deposit screens

Frequently asked questions

What is the best crypto network for exchange transfers?

There is no universal best network. Choose the one that both exchanges currently support for the exact asset, has an acceptable fee and confirmation time, and is open for deposits and withdrawals.

Why is my preferred withdrawal network unavailable?

Exchanges can pause wallets for maintenance, chain events, security checks, or internal risk controls. Do not rely on an old transfer route; check live status each time.

Can a low withdrawal fee make an arbitrage route profitable?

It can help, but profit must still cover trading fees, slippage, confirmation delay, and price movement. Calculate the complete net result before entering the trade.

Validate live network availability

Open the Spot Scanner to identify spreads with available deposit and withdrawal routes, then verify the final settings at both exchanges.
