Guides/DEX to CEX transfers

DEX to CEX Transfer Guide for Crypto Arbitrage

Moving assets from a wallet or DEX to a centralized exchange is simple only when the token, network, gas, and deposit rules line up. This workflow keeps the transfer leg controlled and auditable.

5 topics
  • 1Pick an asset and network the CEX accepts
  • 2Swap without losing the edge to price impact
  • 3Keep native gas for the transaction
  • 4Send safely to the exchange deposit address
  • 5Track the deposit and complete the CEX leg

1) Plan the destination before swapping

Start at the CEX deposit screen, not the DEX. It tells you exactly which assets and networks the exchange can credit today.

  • •Choose a liquid asset that the destination CEX accepts
  • •Confirm the exact network and whether a memo or tag is required
  • •Check deposit minimum and expected confirmation count before the swap

2) Confirm the on-chain route

A DEX swap changes the asset in your wallet, while a bridge changes the network. They are separate actions with separate costs and risks.

  • •Use the network that the CEX deposit screen explicitly supports
  • •Bridge only when needed and include bridge fees and timing in net PnL
  • •Keep enough native token for approval, swap, and transfer gas

3) Execute the DEX swap with price discipline

The quoted DEX price can move before the transaction is confirmed. Large trades can also move the pool against you.

  • •Compare routes with an established aggregator or the DEX Scanner
  • •Review price impact, minimum received, and gas before confirming
  • •Use conservative slippage and reduce size when liquidity is shallow

4) Send to the CEX deposit address

After the swap, send only the chosen asset on the chosen network. Copy the CEX address and memo directly from the live deposit screen.

  • •Never reuse an old address without checking the current deposit screen
  • •For a new route, send a small test amount first
  • •Double-check the first and last address characters and the memo or tag

5) Track, credit, and close the route

Keep the transaction hash until the CEX credits the deposit. Do not assume a confirmed blockchain transaction means the exchange has already credited your balance.

  • •Track the transaction in the relevant block explorer
  • •Monitor the CEX deposit history and confirmation progress
  • •Sell, hedge, or rebalance only after the credited amount is available

DEX to CEX transfer checklist

  • •CEX deposit is open for the asset and network
  • •Wallet holds enough native token for gas
  • •DEX price impact and all fees leave a positive net edge
  • •Address and memo/tag copied from the live CEX deposit screen
  • •Test transfer used for an unproven route
  • •Transaction hash and time-stop are recorded

Frequently asked questions

Can I send any DEX token directly to a CEX?

No. The CEX must explicitly support both that asset and the network you are using. Swap into a supported asset first when necessary.

Do I need a bridge to move from a DEX to a CEX?

Only if the asset is on a network the CEX does not accept. A bridge adds time and cost, so include it in your trade calculation.

Why keep native gas after the swap?

You need the chain's native asset to approve contracts and send the final transfer. Do not swap your entire gas balance into the arbitrage asset.

Compare the on-chain and exchange legs

Use the DEX Scanner for the on-chain opportunity, then validate the CEX deposit route before you move funds.
